Diwali, or Deepavali, is the Hindu festival of lights, it is a five-day festival which is celebrated between the end of October and early Nov. It is one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism. The 5-day festival are:

Dhanteras(Day 1) - The festival of wealth. As per Indian tradition, the goddess of wealth Lakshmi and the god of knowledge Ganesha is worshipped on this day.

Naraka Chaturdasi(Day 2). it is a day to pray for the peace to the manes, or deified souls of one's ancestors and light their way for their journeys in the cyclic afterlife.  It is also a major day for purchasing festive foods, sweets in particular. 

Diwali, Lakshmi Puja(Day 3), it is the day which people are visiting their relatives and friends, exchanging gifts and sweets

Padwa, Balipratipada(Day 4), it is a day to celebrate the love and bond between husband and wife. Men will present gifts to their wives on this day.

Bhai Duj and Bhaiya Dooji(Day 5), it is the day to celebrates the bond between siblings with a prayer and brothers would travel to meet their married sisters
